Abstract
Kinetics and mechanism of the reaction between 4-methoxybenzaldehyde 1 and 2-aminobenzamide 2 has been investigated spectrally in the presence of formic acid as a catalyst and solvent. The reaction was showed the second-order rate kinetics and rate constant on the reverse temperature had a good consent with the Arrhenius and Eyring equations. The effects of solvent and concentration on the reaction rates were also investigated. All kinetics and activation parameters of the reaction were obtained. A speculative mechanism was confirmed in accordance with the experimental obtained data. Also, results showed that the first step of the mechanism is a rate determining step (RDS).
